Swine Flu: A Porkicide

… And WHO is about to declare an alert level 6, World pandemic. Planet Earth, also known as “World”.- Panic. World faces what is call –as most media says- the next world pandemic, when the virus H1N1 type A has already spread the disease in more than two WHO’s regions – World Health Organization -. Egyptian government ordered to cull all the pigs in the country, producing the biggest Porkicide in history with almost 300,000 casualties on pork society to prevent Egyptians from a psychological side-effect produced by the fast growth of the virus in the world. Exchange students in Mexico are going back their countries.
Approaching to alert level 6?
People culling porks all over the world –and we know now that the flu is not spread by eating it-, empty stadiums and concerts, Catholic mass broadcasted on TV, borders closed, Mexicans in captivity, etc. That’s the previous result of the alert level 5 announced a few weeks ago. But, WHO is now set to raise the Swine Flu alert level to 6, pandemic?
Until yesterday (May 4, 2009), 21 countries have officially reported 1085 cases of influenza A (H1N1) infection. But, is it necessary to raise the level to 6? As prevention of course, but I hope they consider the side-effects. To get to this level what is most required –after all the requirements for previous levels- the sustained outbreaks in at least two regions of WHO is needed, and now, the list of country includes nations in almost every continent. Margaret Chan, Who’s General Director, said that “Level six does not mean, in any way, that we are facing the end of the world.” But, what will happen when and average person on the street heard the word “pandemic”?
Closing borders
Mexico has reacted with a big concern at the positions taken by countries as China or South Americans Nations. In some cases the actions were unreasonable and unexpected, in others were smart for the fact that “may be” we are dealing with high risk virus. Anyway, that’s what a big world alarm produce on society, and even nations can be afraid.
Chinese government ordered to keep under quarantine 70 Mexicans who are now in captivity waiting for medical studies to detect a possible AH1N1 virus infection, the first case registered case was detected in Hong Kong. Mexican government immediately reacted against the “protective custody” of their nationals and said that a plane will fly to Beijing to take home all the Mexicans who wants to come back. In fact, some Mexicans media called this an “xenophobic” act against them, but reality is more complicated than that, because the problem is that, can we imagine a high risk virus spreading into China? Despite this, the WHO has not recommended the border closure.
Meanwhile, countries like Argentina and Peru have cancelled all flights to and from Mexico. In Argentina, eleven thousand passengers arrive from Mexico every week and In Peru almost nine thousand make connections to other countries in South America, making the traffic with Mexico a big risk because to health services.
Conspiracy about the virus
As we all know, every time something like this happens in the world, conspiracy theories also appear, because the conspiracy is as old as the power to dominate others.
Alex Jones –popular conspiracy theorist- says that this pandemic is a test of biological weapon manufactured by agents of the New World Order designed to drastically reduce the population of the planet to allow the secret elite to more effectively enslave the survivors. The second theory is that the flu is a biological weapon created by Islamic terrorist aimed at wiping out the decadent, pork-reliant western world. The third is that it was manufactured by a big pharmaceutical company so they could make billions by selling us a vaccine.
I also read a Mexican conspiracy theory that has been going around the internet by the e-mails saying that the pharmaceutical industry is going down and that in the last G7 meeting they said that the economy needs to be reactivated, so, if we can’t create a war now, why not create a disease?
Conclusion?
1) The world is a mess.
2) Swine Flu kills twelve people per month in the world. Tuberculosis kills one hundred thirty five thousand people per month. Normal flue, twenty one thousand per month.
3) Egyptians should’ve sent some pigs to me to cook a really yummy barbecue.
4) Nachos are also yummy.
5) Any other conclusion?
